Regulating chemicals after the
UK Transition period

Wednesday 20th January 2021

About

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) will be hosting two, virtual one-day stakeholder events covering actions businesses need to take when the UK Transition ends and how the new GB regulatory regime for chemicals may impact their work.

The first event took place on Wednesday 16 December 2020. Video on demand recordings and downloadable PowerPoint presentations can be accessed from the Delegate Area.

Save the date - the second event will take place online on Wednesday 20 January 2021.

The virtual event will include:

  • sessions led by HSE on the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) and Prior Informed Consent (PIC) regimes
  • sessions led by HSE and Defra on Plant Protection Products (PPP) and Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

The event will be centred around business readiness, ensuring attendees are well informed of the duties and obligations they need to comply with to access the GB market after the transition period ends. The sessions will be interactive including a Q and A function.

In order to extend the invite to as many organisations as possible, we will limit registration to a maximum of two representatives from each organsisation at each event.
In the event that there are places still available, we will do our best to accommodate additional attendee requests. Please submit requests for additional places by email to hse-chemicals-brexit@glasgows.co.uk

The virtual event will open from 10:00am to ensure attendees have sufficient time to join the platform. The event will start at 10:15am prompt and will finish by 1pm.

Final details will be sent to all attendees prior to the event.

The main event will be recorded and made available to attendees post event.

Further information regarding regulating chemicals can be found on https://www.hse.gov.uk/brexit/chemicals-brexit-guidance.htm or on the Defra site at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-comply-with-reach-chemical-regulations
